PE or Polyethylene Foam is the finished product manufactured by injecting a foaming agent into melted plastic.

Polyethylene foam can be made into many useful products including:

• Foam rolls with gauges from 1/32'' to 1/2'' thick
• Foam planks are 1'' to 4'' in 1/2'' increments and can come in differient colors and antistatic

The names used in describing foam is usually based on the material or process in making the foam.

Some more common ones are:

• Polyethylene - is extruded.  Examples include foam sheets used from covering electronics products and furniture,  and foam planking for thick surface protection
• Polystyrene - is formed by molds.  These include packing peanuts, bean bag fill, and cushioning material used for packing stereo and computer components.
• Polyurethane - is created by pouring the ingredients together in a form and allowed to harden.  This includes foam cushions found in seats and couches.
